Necessity is the mother of invention so they say. Well am one of
those few people out there who loves downloading. and sometimes
downloading doesn’t come so easily often at times you may need to
download from a server that offers very slow download speed or from a
server without resume. And at times it may be from a torrent site and
one thing about download from torrent sites is that you really need a
torrent download as some of the most popular web browsers out there
doesn’t offer inbuilt torrent downloading support.
And from my vast experience and research on torrent clients, i have discovered that all of them offers virtually the same slow speed. However there is one particular torrent client which appeals to me and am recommending it to everyone be it newbies or geeks it is called uTorrent downloader. I particularly love this client because of its friendly user interface, simplicity and above all its susceptibility to tweaks. Yes you can tweak uTorrent to become faster and your download speed will triple and not not double. For Instance if your download speed used to be 20Kbs then be sure you will get 60Kbs after applying my tweaks.
This tweak works on both uTorrent 1.8 and 3.xxxx. But you might as well try it on other torrent downloaders it might work
NOW STEPS TO BE TAKEN TO INCREASE THE DOWNLOAD SPEED OF uTORRENT:
1. Download uTorrent 3.2 (build 27886) uTorrent_3.2
2. Install it and after installation, open it and goto options>>preferences
The following settings will be tweaked in other to make uTorrent faster:
As you can see from the screenshot beside, from the preferences windows, all you need to to change make torrent files downloading faster are as follows: Connection>>Bandwidth>>BitTorrent>>Queuing>> and Advance.
> Under Connections: Change Random ports values from 27854 to 45682
> Under Banwidth change Maximum Upload Rate from 0 to 10 then change global maximum number of connections from 200 to 2329
> And maximum number of connected peers change from 50 to 1890
> Change number of upload slots per torrent from b to 14
> Now under BitTorrent tab change protocol Encryption (outgoing) from Disabled to Enable
> And Under Queuing change the following values: 8 to 60, 5 to 63, 150 to 0. then leave others as default
> Finally go to Advanced and change the followings: bt.allow_same_ip change from false to true
> Scroll down to bit.connect_speed and change from 7 to 128 (use the set value option below the window)
> Still scroll down to dht.rate and change from -1 to 2
> scroll down and change gui.show_nontorrents_nodes from true to false
> Now change “net.max_halfopen from 100 to 128
> change rss.update_interval from 15 to 20.
That is all you need to do and immediately you will get the increased in speed starting from your next download. And like i said earlier, you can as well apply the above tweak to any torrent downloader you are currently using
